Bf109-G14 cowling.

BF109Cowl

3D printing has opened new and exciting ways for many artists to represent their creation.  I took advantage of this new technology by printing an Air Intake for this Bf 109 cowling.  The results are outstanding! Putting the pieces together and seeing the end result has motivated me to create more pieces using 3D printing.  I’m really excited to show everyone the new art I’m working on. Stay tuned for more news.

It turned out really nice and I decided I would start the New Year by making a limited number available to collectors sometime in January or early february. Here are a few photos of the building process.

Peleliu Marine Illustration.

Posted by artcorp1 on November 28, 2014
Posted in: News. Leave a comment

On September 15, 1944 the 1st. Marine Division landed on the beaches of Peleliu under tremendous fire power coming at ’em. The battle that took place to take control of that island was  “Hell on earth”.  I wanted to create an illustration to pay tribute to the Marines who fought at Peleliu, but go above and beyond just a simple drawing or painting. That’s when I decided to include -along with my illustration- 2 pieces of history I had kept in my personal collection for several years. The first would be an American made/stamped shell casing which was shot during the battle and brought back from Peleliu. Also included, a Pacific Theater campaign medal ribbon. It made perfect sense to mount those objects together that way.   I hope that many of you will appreciate what I tried to do with this unique piece of art which will be available for purchase at battlegroundstudio.storenvy.com on Friday Nov.28 at 9:44am PST

Thank you

“TANTALIZING TAKE OFF” B25 panel (read below)

Posted by artcorp1 on September 27, 2014

paintingpanel_bakPaneltype

PinUpShortsSeveral years ago I was fortunate enough to find an actual B25 nacelle panel. Shortly after I painted the “Tantalizing Take Off” pinup on it. In looking at it you might think it’s unfinished but this is no accident.  The thought behind not completing the painting was simply to engage the viewer and to show that many “things” were left unfinished during WW2. When it was time to go fight everything else became trivial.  How many unfinished nose artworks never came back to be completed?

This particular panel measures approx. 28″x28″ it has been on display at various art shows and was even hanging in the Chino Planes of Fame gift shop for a short time during one of their air shows a few years ago.  I never could bring myself to sell it.  Well, the decision has been made and the panel will be offered for sale on my webstore very soon.  Stay posted for more details.  In the meantime you can take a closer look here in these photos.

Thank you.   –Will

This box set is the last of a series of 3.  As with the other previous sets this one includes a piece of a 190 wreck (with original paint RLM76+2 red hand painted stripes) recovered in Latvia a few years ago.  The piece has been traced back to a FW190 belonging to the famed JG54.  Also inlcuded in the set is 5 MG17 ammo belt links also recovered near an airfield which was occupied by JG54 in World War 2.  More details to the collector once the set has been purchased.

Iwo_box Iwo_details1 Iwo_details2 Iwo_details3 Iwo_details4 Iwo_Main2 Iwo_main3

BATTLEGROUND STUDIO is offering this OUTSTANDING box set featuring extremely rare pieces of history.  Also included is a limited edition BATTLEGROUND STUDIO exclusive A6M zero fuselage panel replica (approx. 10×6).  Just like all of our custom panels it is made with aircraft grade T6 6061aluminum, painted with accurate markings, down to the stenciled ID plate and meticulously weathered.  What makes this set so remarkable is the fact that it includes a small piece (approx. size 1.5×7) of an actual Zero wreck found on the battlefield on Iwo Jima.  That piece was brought back by a WW2 veteran and carefully preserved until his passing. Amazingly, the piece still has most of its original green paint on it.  Also featured in the set is a small antique glass bottle (approx. size 3×1) filled with some of the infamous black sand of Iwo Jima.  Though we’ve tried to show you the set in pictures we can tell you that no photo can possibly replace holding this set in person.  It’s a gem! and a one of kind set for any WW2 history collector.  The previous box sets we’ve created sold out in our web store in minutes, DO NOT MISS the chance to own this one.
